New Jersey Cantors Concert Ensemble
On Sunday, March 25th, AJR Alum Cantor Marcia Lane presented a concert entitled “From Medieval to Modern: Five Centuries of Jewish Choral Masterpieces.” Joining her on the bima at Temple Beth El of the Shore (Oakhurst, NJ) were members of the New Jersey Cantors Concert Ensemble ‘ including fellow AJR-ers Anna West Ott and Barbra Lieberstein – and guest soloists Cantors Perry Fine and Faith Steinsnyder. Marcia explained, “Both Perry and Faith were teachers of mine when I was at AJR, and I really wanted to share this concert with them.”
The concert drew an audience of more than 250 (almost filling the sanctuary!), and was a huge success. “The variety and beauty of the music was really stunning,” remarked Beth El rabbi, Gordon Yaffe. The NJCCE raises funds for cantorial scholarships at JTS/Miller School, HUC/School of Sacred music AND AJR!!
