David Paskin (AJR ’02), the “Rock n’Roll Rabbi” and who performed in concert to benefit AJR on January 13th has been commissioned by the Conservative movement to write and produce a song in honor of Israel’s 60th birthday for all of the Schechter schools in the country to learn and share. The song, entitled, “Kumi Ori” is based on Isaiah chapter 60, a symbolic and meaningful linkage to the number of years of Israel’s existence. Elaine R. S. Cohen, EdD, Associate Director of the Department of Education of USCJ said, “We are so grateful to (David) for contributing his talent and enthusiasm to this project and for creating this terrific song in such a short time so that all our schools can begin to learn it right away.” The song should be out in early February.
