Rabbi Jill Hammer’s Essay included in new JPS Guide
Rabbi Jill Hammer, Director of Spiritual Education at AJR, has been included among contributors to a new guide to the Bible for learners and laypeople, entitled JPS Guide: The Jewish Bible, published this summer by the Jewish Publication Society. Rabbi Hammer’s essay “Midrash” explains the norms, uses, and development of the midrashic tradition from rabbinic times to the present. She is the author of two books of midrash: Sisters at Sinai: New Tales of Biblical Women (JPS 2001) and The Jewish Book of Days: A Companion for All Seasons (JPS 2006).
