AJR Fall Retreat November 8-11
AJR is looking forward to its annual retreat to be held on November 8-11 at The Hudson Valley Conference Center. The theme of the retreat will be “B’Tzelem Elohim: The Body In Jewish Thought and Practice.” As clergy, we are relatively comfortable incorporating the values of B’tzelem Elohim in emulating godly ways – in social action and interaction. We are intent in learning how to walk with God. Less explored is the actual physicality of the concept. How does being in God’s image impact how we care for and what we do with our bodies? As vessels for worship and performing mitzvot, there are religious dictates for how we control our bodily functions and our appearances, as well as how we physically relate to other bodies. Over the three days of this retreat, guided by Rabbis, Cantors, Psychologists, and Professors we hope to involve body, mind, and spirit in an awareness of what it means to be in a Jewish body and how you can apply this experience to your own physical and spiritual health. Alumni who would like to join us at retreat, can register by completing this form and submitting it to the AJR office.
