AJR Mourns the passing of Debbie Friedman, z”l
The Academy For Jewish Religion acknowledges with a deep sense of sadness and loss the untimely passing of Deborah Lynn Friedman – a pioneer, innovator and teacher of Jewish music who touched our lives and hearts with her gift of song. Debbie Friedman brought her talents to the AJR community and we are the richer for it. Â
She fulfilled words of one of her earlier musical creations:
Sing unto God, sing a new song, o sing praises to God,
give thanks unto God with a song.
May Debbie Friedman’s memory live on as we continue to sing unto God through her songs.
