Rabbi David Paskin

Rabbi David Paskin began his journey to the rabbinate in a Hebrew high school class in the mid-eighties when he learned to tie his own tzitzit. That experience, and so many other powerful moments of connection, brought David to take this journey. He is an accomplished spiritual leader, singer/songwriter, educator, and entertainer. His music is a mix of joyful, upbeat tunes and moving liturgical compositions. David’s music is used around the country in religious schools, camps, synagogues, and homes. David has produced three albums of contemporary, original Jewish music with his band, Rock Tov, and continues to perform to the delight of audiences. In his concerts, David leaves everyone with music on their lips, Torah on their minds, and spirit in their hearts.

David, known by his congregants as Reb David, has been the spiritual leader of Temple Beth Abraham in Canton, Massachusetts, for the past four years and plans to continue there for many years to come. David has been working in Jewish education for over 15 years, teaching at various religious schools and camps around the country. In the Boston area, David has served as Music and Judaics Director of Camp Grossman, and as Judaic Studies Coordinator of the Rashi School of Greater Boston. In addition, David makes regular visits to share his music and learning with the South Area Solomon Schechter Day School in Stoughton, Massachusetts, and the Alperin Schechter Day School in Providence, Rhode Island.

David lives with his wife, Heather, and daughters, Dalia and Ayelet. David dedicated his ordination to his beloved daughter Liat Chanina (z’l) who passed away just six weeks before the ceremony from a brain tumor. It was her joy, laughter, and love that allowed David to reach his ordination, and it is her memory that will sustain him as he continues God’s work.
