Rabbi Bernice Weiss
Graduates of AJR are innovators. Not only do they create congregational experiences that are uniquely personal and spiritually fulfilling, but they are also on the cutting edge of creating new Jewish structures that address the needs of contemporary Jews. One such AJR innovator is Rabbi Bernice K. Weiss (AJR ’89), who founded The Washington Institute for Conversion and the Study of Judaism. The Institute has created a comprehensive, textually based study program for Jews by choice to help integrate these persons into the Jewish community, thereby enabling them to become active participants in Jewish life. Rabbi Weiss is also the author of the recently acclaimed book, Converting to Judaism: Choosing to be Chosen (Simcha Press, 2000)
