Our Students

Description

AJR classroom session

AJR believes that Judaism is larger, deeper and richer than any particular denomination or movement. We do not teach Judaism from only one perspective. We teach about all the movements, and our faculty and students are encouraged to continue on their own explorations.

We have had among our students, lawyers, surgeons, professors of literature and classical musical composition, therapists, writers, dentists, successful business people, and a professor of Talmud at another seminary. All have come to the Academy because they found their calling to serve the entire Jewish community too compelling to ignore. They have found the Academy to be the right place to train, challenge, nurture and guide them.

Our graduates serve in congregations large and small, in places where no other rabbi or cantor would agree to serve, in private homes and wherever they are needed.

AJR has ordained rabbis and cantors to:

  • Serve the Jewish community in 21 states as well as Canada, Israel and Europe;
  • Serve both affiliated and unaffiliated congregations, representing Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Jewish Renewal and trans-denominational settings;
  • Serve as chaplains in hospitals, nursing homes, and in the Untied States Armed Forces;
  • Serve as teachers and administrators in Jewish day schools and community service organizations; and
  • Serve as educators in academia.
