High Holiday Cantor or Cantorial Soloist

Kenyon Hillel in Gambier, Ohio, is seeking a Cantor or Cantorial Soloist for the High Holidays.  The Cantor will run services with the Jewish Chaplain together for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur for our community of students, faculty and local participants. The Cantor will be responsible for the following: Erev Rosh HaShanah, Rosh HaShanah morning (1st day), Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur Morning, Yizkor and Neilah.  There is no YK afternoon service, The service is Reform style and uses the Reform High Holiday Siddur.  We are looking for traditional Hebrew-chanted High Holiday liturgy as well as melodies that encourage participation, Shared responsibility with the Jewish Chaplain and student leaders for English readings and prayer introductions & Primary chanter for Torah, but parts can be shared with staff and students. No sermon or other teaching is required, but if you are interested, we can discuss opportunities. Base compensation is $4,000 plus travel, lodging, and meals.
