Kehillat Ma’arav (KM) is a Conservative USCJ-affiliated congregation located in Santa Monica, California. We are seeking a part-time Post-B’nai Mitzvah Teacher/Mentor to join our Arts and Bnai Mitzvah Program, BAYIT. Under the supervision and guidance of the Education Director, Post-B’nai Mitzvah Teacher/Mentor will facilitate creative and educational programing. We are looking for someone who can bring Jewish learning and text to life through the arts. We are especially interested in someone who can make short videos or memes for social media with the students, but we are also open to hearing other creative and engaging ideas from various art specialists. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and background in Jewish education, 3 years of related congregational experience, An outgoing personality that interacts well with children, Availability on designated dates outlined below, Someone who is creative, engaging, pluralism and working with a team, Excellent organization and communication skills, Substantial leadership experience, Experience in youth programming & Proficiency in Social Media and Video Editing – Our program focuses on the arts and we want to have a person play a role in highlighting their technological skill set & Kind, creative, flexible, and adaptable individual who values Jewish life. For the right candidate, this position can also include High Holidays programming for the same age group (See High Holiday section): Help create engaging youth programs for Day 1 and 2 of Rosh Hashanah and the Yom Kippur, with option to work Erev Rosh Hashana, Kol Nidre and Ne’ela, Create lessons for the various activities that will take place as part of the HHD, Create a warm, engaging, and enthusiastic environment for participants, Ensure participants’ physical and emotional safety and wellbeing, Supervise and assist with setup & cleanup & Lead an age appropriate, meaningful and fun, High Holiday service. Compensation: $50 – $75 / hour, depending on experience. Required Availability: Tuesday afternoons from September 2024 through June 2025. There are also occasional Sunday programs and Friday and Saturday night social events. Part-time.
