Temple Beth-El is a vibrant Reform Jewish congregation located in St. Petersburg, Florida.  We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic Teen and Youth Engagement Director who will be dedicated to creating a meaningful and engaging experience for our K-12th community members. Temple Beth-El is looking to grow a flourishing religious school into a vibrant and innovative youth and teen community. With nearly 100 students, TBE is looking to create both formal and informal connections through local, regional and national outlets for our youngest congregants to cultivate a strong Jewish identity and sense of self.  Through URJ camps, NFTY youth groups, Israel and social justice missions, TBE is ready to be at the forefront of supporting our youth through intergenerational leadership, strong governance and ample financial resources. The ideal candidate should be passionate about Jewish education and youth, a creative and compelling educator and administrator, a positive Jewish role model and mentor, has proven supervisory and classroom management skills, personable with both students and parents and experienced in creating and managing a budget collaboratively. Formal education responsibilities: Develop and oversee the Religious School curricula, hiring, supervision and professional development of Religious School staff, mentor Madrichim, create open communications with families. Work alongside clergy office to coordinate B’ mitzvah process. Informal education responsibilities: Vision and execute what is needed to engage our youth community, cultivating and strengthening their Jewish identity. Create innovative family and youth Shabbat and holiday programming and organize educationally significant High Holiday youth services. Educational and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree, Knowledge of Reform Jewish principles and practices, 3+ years of experience in Jewish education preferred, ideally in a Reform Jewish setting, Interpersonal Skills: Establishes good working relationships with colleagues, staff and lay leaders; works strategically, tactically, and administratively across the organization; uses diplomacy and tact; is warm and approachable; good-natured and nurturing; a good communicator and a good listener, Ability to set priorities and work independently with volunteers and lay leadership, Ability to mentor and motivate youth and teens & Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Benefits include a fully paid health insurance plan option, optional dental and vision insurance, paid PTO, professional development allowance inclusive of potential for travel to camp or Israel, employer pension contribution, congregational membership. Salary range $60,000 to $70,000 commensurate with experience. The full-time position reports to the Senior Rabbi and supervises eight part-time teachers, seven Hebrew and two B’ mitzvah tutors.  The position starts July 1, 2024.
