The Journal of The Academy for Jewish Religion
A WORD FROM THE EDITOR
Kol hat’halot qashot. Nevertheless we have persevered and we now see the first fruits of our labor ‘ Volume 1, Number 1 of The Journal of The Academy for Jewish Religion. We pray that we will be blessed to publish this journal annually.
To the making of journals there is no end. Yet, the more, the merrier, for in this manner and through such a medium we are able to spread and disseminate more Jewish knowledge. This edition of the journal which emanates from the portals of The Academy for Jewish Religion is a kol bo-including scholarly and popular articles, as well as d’rash and a d’var Torah.
In this our first issue we included writings from members of our faculty and our student body, and from a learned and eminent attorney. We will welcome and consider for future issues any worthwhile article of interest to the Jewish community.
This work would not have seen the light of day were it not for Charles Lightner, who threw himself into this project with a whole and loving heart, and for the encouragement of our Executive Vice President, Dr. Ora Horn Prouser. We owe them our deepest thanks. Thanks also to Katy Allen and Helene Santo for their technical expertise.
May the blessings of God be bestowed upon us, and ‘He who makes peace in the Heavens above, may He grant us, all Israel,’ and all peoples shalom, now and forever.
