We are seeking a dedicated and talented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Cantor to work together with our dynamic clergy team. They will be focused on frequently leading a portion of services and High Holy Day observances at a Conservative Jewish synagogue in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Temple Sholom is an Egalitarian, Conservative, multi-generational synagogue that has been serving our Jewish community for more than 50 years. We are seeking a Part-Time Cantor to join our clergy team along with our Two Rabbis. Key Responsibilities: Frequently lead Shabbat and other services with a focus on creating a meaningful and engaging participatory experience, High Holy Day Observances: Play a role in leading and enhancing the worship experience during, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services: Work closely with the clergy and staff to ensure a seamless and spiritually resonant High Holy Day experience, Chant the Torah during services, according to the Triennial cycle, Build connections within the community by engaging with congregants and fostering a sense of belonging & Service Planning: Work with the Rabbis and other staff to plan and coordinate services. Qualifications: Knowledge of Jewish liturgical melodies, Ability to read and chant Torah, Strong interpersonal and communication skills, Possess a deep understanding of Jewish traditions, customs, and rituals, particularly those associated with services and High Holy Days, Demonstrated cantorial expertise and proficiency in leading traditional Jewish liturgy with authenticity and sensitivity & Ability to guide and inspire congregants through prayer, creating a spiritually enriching experience. Working Conditions: This is a part-time position with hours concentrated around regular worship services, special occasions, and High Holy Day observances. Additional time may be required for meetings with clergy and community engagement. Weekend and holiday work is required, in accordance with the Jewish calendar.
