The Chaplain ensures that older Jewish adults at risk of isolation feel connected spiritually and to the Jewish community by delivering pastoral care to Jewish residents of area skilled nursing, assisted living facilities and group homes. Pay: $55,000 – $80,000 a year. Full-time.

  • Essential Functions: Makes individual pastoral visits to residents of area skilled nursing, assisted living facilities, and group homes. Structures group programs where possible and appropriate for the residents, Assesses and serves the spiritual needs of clients and family members, including provision of spiritual support on issues of loss, grief, depression, illness, isolation, end of life issues and other issues as appropriate, Plans and implements consistent outreach to skilled nursing, assisted living facilities, and group homes to identify Jewish residents in need of chaplaincy services, Keeps current with best practices and developments in the field, Tracks client visits, group activities and outreach in ETO database, Corresponds with clients, their families, and staff at facilities, including condolences to families of deceased clients & Provides ideas for program enhancements during weekly supervision meetings & Communicates outputs and outcomes for PQI. 
  • Additional Responsibilities: May take a lead role in supervising one or more volunteers, Demonstrate teamwork in delivery of care management services, Performs other duties as required or assigned & Complies with all company policies and standards.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with varying abilities to perform the essential functions, Education: master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, human services, or education and/or Work Experience: Is an ordained Rabbi or current enrollment as rabbinical student. Experience in counseling, geriatrics, and pastoral care. 
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must identify Jewishly and be affiliated with the Jewish Community, Able to communicate on an individual level and in group situations & Ability to use standard office equipment, computers, and related software applications. 
  • Licenses, Certifications and Professional Affiliations: Certification in chaplaincy desirable, but not required.

Is collaborative and promotes professional working relationships with coworkers & Public Speaking: Comfortable presenting to both large and small groups. Presentations are concise and appropriate to all audiences. Can comfortably handle discussion and questions, even on controversial or difficult topics. Can manage groups during presentations. Connects with an audience using rapport building techniques and can maintain attention. Ability to change presentation approach and style if necessary. 
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Volunteers, as needed. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an inside office environment or in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Occasionally makes visits in private homes/hospitals. 
  • Physical Demands: This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Must take appropriate precautions to prevent exposure to infection.
  • Travel: Travel within the community is required. Must have access to reliable, private transportation.
