Beth Sholom is the Conservative synagogue in Memphis, TN.  We are a vibrant and growing egalitarian congregation of 280 families.  Our upbeat and welcoming energy draws a diverse and committed community from across the mid-South. Beth Sholom seeks a part time, with the option for full time, Director of Education to join our team in Summer 2025. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree (or a bachelor’s with equivalent experience) in Jewish Education or have a combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in Jewish Education., who is self-motivated, engaging, innovative, organized, and has strong communication skills. We seek someone who is a leader and willing to take a “hands-on” approach to ensure that programs are successful. The ability to connect with individuals and families is key, as is the ability to create and promote events and programs, within the synagogue as well as within the larger Jewish community. The Director of Education will be a Jewish role model for our students and teens and engaged with what it means to practice as a Conservative Jew. Responsibilities: Works in conjunction with the VP of Education, Executive Director, and the Rabbi to direct four main program areas: Formal Education/Religious School, Informal Education/Programming, Shabbat & B’nai Mitzvah. While this role primarily deals with youth education, should full-time work be of interest to a candidate, the Director of Education may have the opportunity for professional growth in an area of interest outside of the realm of youth education that would benefit the synagogue. This may include, but not limited to, adult education, synagogue marketing, member engagement outreach, etc. We are open to a conversation about what other skills a candidate would bring to our community.
