Central Synagogue – Beth Emeth (CSBE) is a reform/reconstructionist congregation located in Rockville Centre, NY. We have been serving Long Island’s South Shore for nearly 90 years. We are a dynamic congregation, committed to the philosophy of Progressive Judaism. We are seeking a motivated and creative, part-time Director of Jewish Education, to oversee and further develop our religious school program, The Jewish Experience (JE). JE currently serves students in Kindergarten- 7th grade. The goal of JE is to create an exciting, stimulating and innovative environment for Jewish learning. Students in all grades attend classes on Sundays from 9:30- Noon. Students in 3rd – 7thgrade receive one on one Hebrew instructions from their classroom teachers, via Zoom, during the week. The Director will supervise all school activities, teachers, aides and volunteers, in cooperation with the Clergy, with support from the Education Committee, while infusing a sense of ‘ruach’ to the children of our community. Relationship building is a key component of this position, as the Director serves as the primary liaison to our JE families. This position is for immediate hire, the appropriate candidate will be seamlessly integrated into our school community, and guided to assume all administrative duties. The Director will collaborate with Clergy and staff in coordinating our new grade-based Shabbat service program. Each grade will be “hosting” a Shabbat service, where they will lead specific components of Shabbat worship. The Director will play an important role in the successful implementation of this important program. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with both Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism; experience in Jewish education, both in the classroom and in managing teachers; strong, proactive organizational, administrative, interpersonal and communication skills; and experience with technology and digital learning. The candidate must have a commitment to creating an inclusive, interactive, and stimulating educational environment and maintain an openness to mutual feedback. The salary range for this position is $20,000- $25,000 per year.
