Jewish Community Center of Harrison - Harrison, NY

Conservative, Inclusive/Diverse

We currently have an interim Rabbi and are looking for a new lifetime Rabbi to fill the position. We would like to have a lifelong Rabbi who will appeal to all demographics of our synagogue. They should be able to relate to all ages. Someone who has the ability to energize and rejuvenate our congregation. We are welcoming and inclusive to all. We are an institution that by our very name elevates the Kahal, our community & and its diversity, above any exclusionary labels. Our Hebrew school is aptly named the Kehilah school as well, underscoring how we see ourselves. Our school is small in numbers but large in spirit. Our religious school director and staff are dynamic and bring creative and thoughtful programs for our children to experience. We foster hands-on experiential learning.  The Kehilah school creates a warm and welcoming environment for students and their families to experience Jewish learning in a creative and innovative environment. Our school’s curriculum is based on 4 pillars: Torah and Tefilah – Identity and Tradition, Tikkun Olam – Healing the World, Kehilah Kedoshah – Sacred Community & Ahavat Israel – Love of Israel. Jewish learning happens not only within the walls of the school. We foster Jewish learning experiences that transcend the building, coming to the families’ homes, outdoor experiences and more. We encourage our students and their families to “Just do Jewish”, by engaging with the world through a Jewish lens. We are an energized congregation and look forward to having a new rabbi who will harness this energy and help to create programming to entice our members to actively engage in religious and social events, as well as attract families in the area to join our synagogue. We are eager for our new rabbi to provide spirituality, leadership, and to attract members to attend regularly. Our new Rabbi needs to embrace our membership and guide us in growing our congregation. He/She needs to be a presence in our Kehilah school. This person should be approachable by members of all ages. Engagement of our community and relationship development is vital to our success. He/She should be capable of increasing the religious and social participation of our congregants and instill a love of Judaism in our members. They should offer meaningful educational opportunities, including adult education and family programming. Our new Rabbi needs to embrace our membership and guide us in growing our congregation.
