Temple Sinai of Cinnaminson - Cinnaminson, NJ

Conservative, Inclusive/Diverse

Temple Sinai was established in 1962 by a small group of people, some of whom are still active members. We are a liberal Conservative Synagogue providing for the needs of the Jewish population of Burlington County. For over 60 years Temple Sinai has been a place where we express and celebrate our Judaism and where we learn and grow as individuals. Most importantly, it is a place where we create the memories and meaningful family experiences through which we instill in our children a sense of comfort with their Jewish heritage, a sense of pride in their rich past and a sense of commitment to our shared future. Values we stand for: At Temple Sinai we have always opened our arms, our hearts and the doors of our Synagogue to Jewish people of varied religious backgrounds and stages of life. We provide a comfortable environment dedicated to the continuity of Jewish life through education, study of Torah, worship and the celebration of Jewish customs and traditions. Value to the Jewish Community: Temple Sinai serves the Jewish community, the wider community, and the State of Israel through acts of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and G’milut Chasadim (acts of loving kindness) to those in need. Whether single, a family, a senior, an interfaith couple, or family, we welcome all to share holiday celebrations, participate in our interesting and diverse programming and partake in our many social action and educational venues. Our Uniqueness: We are small in size, but large in warmth, providing interesting and diverse programming and opportunities for Jewish growth. At Temple Sinai, we accept you for who you are. We welcome the LGBTQIA community, and recognizing the increasing rate of intermarriage, we welcome the non-Jewish partner and offer opportunities for meaningful participation for the entire family. We highlight four top responsibilities of our new Rabbi: 1. Leadership: Helping to lead the congregation with spiritual practices as well as practical ideas that help us continue to grow, 2. Membership: Helping to retain current members, while attracting and integrating new members, especially younger families and individuals, 3. Education: Delivering and supervising education programs for various ages and providing Rabbinical leadership to Temple Sinai’s religious school and programs & 4. Pastoral Care: Reaching out to congregants, including visiting and calling those who are ill or homebound, to provide connections, counsel, and guidance. We’re looking for a Rabbi who is passionate about Judaism and transmits that passion from the pulpit and from their interactions with all members of the congregation. The Rabbi will encourage congregants to participate in Jewish life and will be able to place the activities of the synagogue and the congregation in the larger context of Jewish Tradition, Teaching, Learning, thought and morals. The Rabbi will be able to explain to congregants how Judaism infuses and enriches our daily lives. Religious duties: Shabbat, High Holiday and Other Holidays, Religious School & B’nai Mitzvah, Pastoral, Educational Programming and Community Engagement, Life Cycle Events, Relationship with Officers, Board Members & Staff, Membership & Fundraising. Other duties & qualities: Establish and maintain (flexible) office hours, Be computer literate or take classes to facilitate computer literacy, Endeavor to attend all synagogue related events, Oversee Kashrut in the Kitchen & Administer Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund at the discretion and report annually to the board on donations and disbursements.
