Congregation Bnai Shalom was formed in 2000 as the result of the merger between Temple Covenant of Peace, a Reform temple and Congregation Bnai Abraham, a Conservative synagogue. The origins of the Easton Jewish community date back to 1839. Our Congregation embraces all branches of Judaism and is an integral part of Jewish life in the Lehigh Valley. Bnai Shalom is a creative, inclusive congregation inviting ALL people to deepen their bonds to Judaism and to thrive in their personal journeys. This includes interfaith, LBGTQ+ and special needs families. We have a core group of people who are dedicated and committed to the well-being of Bnai Shalom both now and well into the future. We are a warm, welcoming, and haimish community with diverse practices, interests, and backgrounds. We are looking for a full-time Rabbi to lead Shabbat and holiday services with the help of our cantor, officiate at life cycle events, work with conversion candidates through their conversion to Judaism, make compassionate care visits, teach classes, assist with programs, and help promote Bnai Shalom as a center of Jewish life in the Greater Easton area. The Rabbi would also represent Bnai Shalom at the Easton Interfaith Council and the Greater Lehigh Valley Clergy Group. We seek an applicant who will help us broaden our current membership.  Easton and the Lehigh Valley are known for extraordinary music festivals, art venues, fine dining, and exciting recreational activities.  Seven colleges and universities are located in the Lehigh Valley and offer additional opportunities to engage in the arts, music, and professional theater. We are looking for a Rabbi to: Lead Friday evening services and provide meaningful High Holy Days and other holiday services with the help of our Cantor, Demonstrate knowledge of Reform and Conservative Judaism; embracing a Reform charter while respecting and valuing Conservative tenets, Demonstrate knowledge in Jewish religion, Torah, history, literature, culture, and spirituality & Create and present sermons, classes and communications in spiritual and relevant ways. Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 (including parsonage allowance).
