The New Jewish Home is seeking a full time Rabbi and Assistant Director of Meaningful Life/Spiritual Care to join the Manhattan Nursing Home team. This position will sit in the Upper West side of Manhattan. Under the direction of the Director of Meaningful Life, the Rabbi plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents; families and staff by providing spiritual support, guidance, and counseling. Specialized Skills and Competencies: Ability to lead traditional services for Shabbat and holidays, Ability to effectively lead to large and small group programs & Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks. Job Qualifications: Current Rabbinical Student in good standing or ordained by a recognized Rabbinic Training Program, Minimum of 1 year of experience in providing spiritual care in a healthcare, hospice, or pastoral setting, preferably with older adults, Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, Empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of the spiritual and existential issues facing older adults, particularly those in long-term care, Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to provide leadership in spiritual care initiatives, Strong organizational skills; ability to plan and deliver timely outcomes, Knowledge of ethical guidelines and confidentiality standards related to spiritual care practices & Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record systems. Physical Demands: Push wheelchairs & Lift light equipment; set up equipment for religious and spiritual care programs.
