Qualifications: Rabbinical or Cantorial Ordination/Investiture, Comprehensive Jewish spiritual and cultural knowledge, High personal, ethical, and professional standards, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, Strong background in education, Adaptability and stress management & Congregational experience is a plus, but recent graduates with relevant skills will be considered. Key Responsibilities: Provide backup clerical services during the Chief Rabbi’s absence, including due to sickness, vacation, or sabbatical. The Chief Rabbi is expected to take a six-month sabbatical starting in January 2025. During this time, the Assistant Rabbi/Cantor should not take leave or a significant vacation without the approval of the Board President. The Assistant Rabbi/Cantor should be available to provide rabbinical services to the Center, Provide rabbinical services for lifecycle events as requested by community members. The Center acknowledges that its clergy may have different levels of observance, and it will make efforts to accommodate these differences. All rabbinical services offered by the Assistant Rabbi/Cantor will be consistent with the pluralistic vision of CJLBD and will be subject to the Center’s policies set by the Ritual Committee, Act as a rabbinical/spiritual leader/teacher for Center members as needed/requested as part of the Center’s rabbinical offerings, All rabbinical services provided by the Assistant Rabbi/Cantor will be subject to review and oversight by the Chief Rabbi and/or decisions made by the Ritual Committee of the Board, Provide ongoing educational programs for all ages, Collaborate in the design and implementation of holiday and educational programming for the congregation, Serve as an active member of the Florida Jewish Community, Officiate at Smachot (weddings, Brit Milah, B’nai mitzvah), funerals, etc., Provide bikkur cholim, shiva, and bereavement support for community members, Foster a sense of community within the Center, Develop innovative ideas for community events, including Tikkun Olam & Cultivate respectful relationships with other local religious organizations.
