The Roosevelt Island Jewish Congregation (RIJC) seeks either an advanced rabbinical student/near ordination, or a recently ordained rabbi, or a rabbi seeking a part-time position, to lead our congregation from September 2024 through June 2025. The RIJC is a non-denominational congregation that observes egalitarian prayer services, leans Conservative, and has been a central part of the Roosevelt Island community for over 40 years.  We are located between Manhattan and Queens, with an easy commute from Manhattan via aerial Tramway, or from Queens or Manhattan via F Train subway, or NYC ferry.  In addition, we are accessible from Long Island City by car, Q102 bus, bicycles and by foot via the 36th Avenue/Roosevelt Island Bridge. The RIJC seeks someone who will lead our High Holiday services, conduct Shabbat services at least twice per month between September & June, lead celebrations of Sukkot, Chanukah, Tu B’Shevat, Purim, Yom Ha-Atzmaut & Shavuot in coordination with RIJC members of all ages, and offer up to 6 adult learning or family engagement opportunities per year. The RIJC also operates a Hebrew School that meets weekly; the candidate will join & teach at least two sessions during the year.  At the present time, the salary range is $20,000 – $25,000.
