The Principal is responsible for ensuring that all programs are aligned with the congregation’s vision for education, under the supervision of the Director of Congregational Learning. The Principal is responsible for ensuring that Lee and Frank Goldberg Family Religious School’s family education, holiday celebrations, retreat, travel, and engagement programs have high-quality, comprehensive, integrated, and engaging curricula. Areas of Responsibility: Education and Programming & Communications and Public Relations. Core Competencies: Mission Ownership: Demonstrates an understanding and support of the mission, vision, and values of Beth Israel and the Lee and Frank Goldberg Family Religions School, Planning and Implementing: Able to illustrate and carry out comprehensive plans for educational programming, with developmentally appropriate expectations in mind for learners and their families. Knows how to organize people and activities, Interpersonal Skills and Ethics: Demonstrates an ability to lead others. Promotes and establishes trust, respect, and rapport by using diplomacy and tact. Maintains confidence and protects confidential information. Builds and maintains strong relationships by demonstrating genuine interest in the well-being of others. Productively engages and resolves interpersonal conflict, Team Building Skills: Works with teachers and teen leaders to regularly assess the health of classroom culture and youth group engagement. Creates a culture of teamwork and cooperation, Builds Community: Promotes Beth Israel’s commitment to building and sustaining a warm and welcoming culture. Acts as a model to school staff and empowers staff to engage in practices that help to build relationships with children, parents, and congregants that support welcoming, excellent service and education, and meaningful, positive interactions & Continuous Learner: Advances job competence and expertise. Creates a climate that values diversity and encourages shared learning. Qualifications: Minimum degree required: Bachelor’s Degree, Knowledge of and commitment to Reform Judaism including prayers, rituals and holidays, Demonstrate ability to work in a team, Teaching Experience 5+ years, Excellent written and oral communication skills, Good organization skills and ability to multi-task; attention to detail, The ability to work with youth of all ages with age appropriate and developmentally appropriate context, Ability to take initiative, Passionate about Jewish learning and life, Resilient, able to evolve and change direction as necessary, Committed to inclusive learning and engagement & Proficiency working with computers, including internet and social media, word processing, email, database, spreadsheet and desktop publishing software. Work Hours Per Week Required: Full-time position. Schedule may vary depending on time of year and organizational activities. Availability for evenings, Sundays, and occasional travel is required.
