Are you a passionate and forward-thinking Rabbi, Cantor or experienced cantorial soloist seeking a meaningful opportunity as a progressive Spiritual Leader? We are excited to announce an opening for a dynamic and visionary leader to guide our vibrant Reform Jewish community in Barrie Ontario Canada. As our Spiritual Leader, you will play a pivotal role to guide our congregation towards a spiritual, community minded, inclusive, and socially aware future. You will lead Shabbat and high holiday services with kindness, compassion, learnedness, and humour. We are a musical community and require you to be able to engage in song and prayer as part of our service. We seek someone who delivers socially aware, meaningful sermons that are thought provoking and contemporary in their message. In this role you will provide pastoral care to our community members and lead services for life cycle events for our community. Additionally, you will be responsible for directly engaging our children and youth as part of their weekly learning on Shabbat through torah, prayer and song. Most importantly, you will foster a spirit of inclusivity within our congregation and in the community. Key Responsibilities: Lead and inspire our community through innovative and thoughtful Shabbat, High Holiday, and festival services, Develop and deliver sermons that address contemporary issues with a progressive lens, Provide pastoral care and support to community members during times of joy and sorrow,Lead lifecycle events for our community members as needed, Provide guidance to our Jewish Heritage School principal around curriculum and coordinated services, Actively engage with our children and youth as part of their weekly learning (45min before services on shabbat) as part of the Jewish Heritage School Curriculum; through torah, prayer and song, Collaborate with staff, lay leaders, and community members to develop and implement social justice initiatives, Participate in monthly Board meetings, Develop and facilitate educational and Torah study programs that promote spiritual growth and understanding for our adult community members, Engage with community members through various channels, including social media and community events & Foster strong relationships with other faith-based organizations and community leaders. Qualifications: Ordination as a Rabbi, Cantor or an experienced Cantorial Soloist from a recognized institution, Demonstrated commitment to progressive Judaism and social justice, Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, Ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, Proven leadership experience in a congregational or community setting, Strong musical acumen to lead with song and/or music and to provide direction to our musical director and choir, Strong organizational and multitasking abilities & Technologically savvy, with proficiency in digital communications and social media platforms. Half time position — approximately 10 – 20 hours per week. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
