The Student Life and Residence Life Coordinator serves as the front-line staff person and provides administrative and programming support to the Office of Residence Life and the Office of Student Life at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS). They will report to the Director of Residence Life and the Dean of Student Life. Bachelor’s degree required. Qualified applicants must be efficient, professional, friendly, customer-service oriented and be able to handle confidential information. In addition, they must be able to multi-task, pay close attention to details, be proficient in database management, have strong technical and writing skills, and be interested in working with undergraduate and graduate students in a very busy student centered, higher education administration setting. Experience working in student services or a campus Hillel and a knowledge of Judaism is a plus. Duties/Responsibilities: Combined Departmental Responsibilities- Residence Life/Student Life: Provides excellent customer Serves as the front-line staff person, receiving, greeting and handling inquiries (visitors, telephone calls, e-mails and other correspondence) from students, faculty, staff and others in a welcoming and friendly manner, Maintain strict confidentiality and handle all matters in a professional, Handle calendaring/appointment scheduling, Order office supplies, Process invoices and reimbursements, Maintain and update departmental content for website and intranet, Handles J1-data entry and accurate maintenance of data management systems and event registration systems, Maintain breakdown of budget expenses and manage budgets for Jewish Life Directors and Resident Directors, Create and disseminate assessment surveys and summarize, Coordinate student staff selection process including interview, Work collaboratively with various JTS departments and Other duties as assigned. Scheduling of Student Life and Residence Life Coordinator’s time between the offices will be determined by supervisors based on workflow needs. Responsibilities specific to Office of Student Life: .Coordinate Student Life activities throughout the year, including major annual events such as; orientation and Shabbat, Jewish holiday events, community service programs, lunch and learns, Handling room bookings, maintenance set-up requests, catering requests, program registration and event Attendance at some evening and Jewish holiday events as needed. Maintain student activities calendar and work with student leaders, residence hall staff and other departments on campus. Provide administrative support for JTS Counseling Center including publicity, scheduling of internship/staff interviews and other logistical tasks. Handle locker rentals including contracts and locker & Coordinate & disseminate information to new and current Responsibilities Specific to Office of Residence Life: Manage the housing placements of current and new students utilizing EX database, Prepare residency verifications and landlord recommendations, Work with the resident directors to compile on call schedules (RD/JLD as well as RA) and disseminate to other offices. Coordinate the early arrival process for students returning in Compile list of students staying in housing over, Send emails to JTS students on housing related issues and updates to Work with Facilities Dept concerning maintenance, Collect and process housing, Prepare and maintain residence hall and apartment listservs, Organize the JTS Emergency Response Team Resource Book, Schedule and manage, Manage the distribution of the Residence Hall survey & Maintain the monthly task lists, shared documents and periodic emails. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s, Efficient, professional, friendly, customer-service, Ability to handle confidential, Able to multi-task and pay close attention to details, Proficiency in database management and must possess strong technical and writing & Experience working in student services or in a campus Hillel and a knowledge of Judaism is a plus. Additional Information: JTS operates on a 35 hour, 4 day work week (Monday through Thursday). Compensation: Salary: $57,000 plus benefits including medical, health savings account, flexible spending account, dental, vision, commuter, life insurance, and pension.
