Congregation of Reform Judaism (CRJ) is seeking a passionate cantorial soloist to join our vibrant and Reform Jewish community. This position offers opportunities to contribute to the spiritual growth and Jewish identity of our congregations through the transformative power of music. As a crucial member of our clergy team, the cantorial soloist will foster the spiritual life of the congregation through music and song. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, self-motivated, innovative, and creative individual who demonstrates a deep understanding of and respect for the evolving Jewish community. Responsibilities: This job description is intended to convey information essential to understand the scope of the position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, or responsibilities associated with the position: Collaborate with our Rabbi to create and lead innovative and meaningful worship, on Shabbat, the High Holy Days, as well as other holidays and festivals, In consultation with our Rabbi, set the musical vision for the congregation, Supervise and direct all congregational music programs, including adult and youth choir activities; including religious school music and music preparation, Participate in life cycle events of congregants, Oversee the b’nai mitzvah program as a whole, including the tutors, Work with our Rabbi to ensure students are fully prepared for their B’nai Mitzvah, Hire and coordinate accompanists and other musicians, Play guitar or another musical instrument, or willing to learn, Teach a variety of ages and interest groups, including adult education classes, classroom visits in the Hebrew school, and Tot Shabbat activities & Collaborate and communicate with our full staff and lay leadership. Qualifications: Knowledge of Reform Jewish liturgy with an emphasis on contemporary melodies and command of the more traditional. CRJ currently uses Mishkan Tefilah and Mishkan HaNefesh for services,  Inspiring vocal ability and excellent musical skills, Ability to build quality relationships with members of all ages. An appreciation of diversity, including knowledge and care for inclusive practices, Enthusiasm for teaching/singing with young children, Effective communication skills to encourage and foster participation from both adults and children, Organized, creative, and cooperative work with Rabbi, Education Director, temple staff, lay leaders, and volunteers, Basic technical and computer skills with audio/video equipment (microphones, soundboard, recording of music videos as needed, equipment inventory, etc.), Ability to lead services on online platforms if needed, Ability to read Hebrew and chant Torah, Ability to sing and lead congregants in singing, Ability to teach children and adults, Ability to lead and direct choirs would be desirable, Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred & Candidate must be Jewish. Full-time. Salary: $60,000-70,000; Determined by role that is established based on responsibilities and commensurate with experience.
