Bnai Keshet has a vibrant Shabbat community, weekly meditation and traditional minyanim, a truly engaged diverse membership and is a leading partner in regional interfaith community organizing.  The Music Director will directly collaborate with our rabbis and lay leaders to enrich the spiritual and religious life of the community. We are looking to grow this role over time, and look forward to working with someone who can help us envision what a larger role would entail. About the Role : Lead one (or two) Friday night services a month and two or three Shabbat morning services a month with Rabbis and lay leaders, Partner with Rabbis to choose new repertoire and prioritize pieces for congregational musicians, Partner with rabbis to collaborate with Musicians-in-Residence 1-2 times a year & Run 2-3 choir and band rehearsals each month (currently scheduled on Thursdays, but this is flexible).  Potentially, based on availability: Direct choir for High Holidays. About You : Self-directed, takes initiative, Strong vocal and instrumental skills (guitar preferred, other instruments welcome), Ability to create lead sheets for instrumentalists and singers, ability to arrange for a variety of instruments is a plus, Comfort with technology, Flexible and curious, Able to receive feedback & Punctual and responsive to meetings and email. Knowledge of Jewish liturgical music is a plus. This position is 5-10 hours/week through the school year, with fewer hours in the summer. The Music Director reports directly to Rabbi Elliott Tepperman and Rabbi Ariann Weitzman. Our current pay scale is $250 Shabbat morning, $250 Friday evening, $150 Rehearsal (inclusive of prep time), subject to negotiation.
