Shalom b’Harim Synagogue - Gainesville, GA
Conservative, Reform, Unaffiliated
Salary Range:
Our small, unaffiliated synagogue serves the North Georgia Mountains, including Hall, Habersham, White, Forsyth, Dawson, and Lumpkin Counties. Our congregation, primarily 50 and older, rents our facilities about once a month from Unity of Gainesville, a friendly Christian congregation. We usually linger after services for a meal or refreshments and socializing − and always encourage our spiritual leader to join us. We also livestream our services regularly via Zoom. We have no dues structure. We depend on contributions from the congregation to sustain us. We have a core membership of approximately 50 actively engaged members and another 30 people who attend occasionally. We are oriented toward Reform/Conservative worship. We are looking for a part-time spiritual leader who can conduct Friday evening and/or Saturday morning services as well as our High Holiday Services and special occasions. (Approximately 14 services per year). We are looking for someone who wants to become part of our Jewish community and will engage warmly and compassionately with our members. We’d like someone passionate about Judaism who will play a role in social and civic Jewish related projects in our community, including with our non-Jewish neighbors. We are deeply committed to Tikkun Olam. We’d like you to be available for occasional life-cycle events, which will be compensated individually, separately from our regular services. We pay generous stipends per service, although not enough to sustain an individual or family year-round. Gainesville, Georgia, is 50 miles north of Atlanta and 100 miles south of Greenville, S.C.
