Our congregation membership is looking for our Rabbinic leadership to lead and enhance our daily, Shabbat and Holiday prayer services. Developing a tremendous engagement with Israel is very important and our Rabbi should be excited to take us on an educational journey into Conservative Judaism and Jewish life here and in Israel. Our Rabbi needs to prepare a brief description of the Torah portion before the Torah reading and provide a sermon built around the Torah portion or upcoming Holiday or Jewish event. Temple Gates of Prayer in Flushing Queens is looking for an experienced Rabbi to lead and revitalize our congregation of 125 members. Our synagogue has been in Flushing for 125 years, and we have a dedicated following of long time members. We are an egalitarian congregation with an aging population. We have a twice daily Zoom minyan and in-person Shabbat morning and Holiday services. Our priorities are for our new Rabbi and the role the Rabbi needs to take on, in coordination with our Board of Trustees, are the following: Lead our daily, Shabbat and Holiday religious services and celebrations, Bring the joy of Judaism to our services and programs while working to increase, congregational participation & Create a yearly teaching curriculum for evening and afternoon classes, Expand our connection to other Queens Conservative Rabbis and their congregations, through joint programs, shared services and educational programs, Expand our Bikur Cholim program with our members for congregants who are ill, alone, in assisted living situations or rehab facilities, Engage with all congregants on a one to one basis, where possible & The Rabbinical candidate should have experience in Congregational leadership, working with Boards, committees, and extensive Jewish knowledge, teaching skills, Torah reading, and managerial experience. We require that the Rabbi work from the Synagogue a minimum of three days a week and meet with the synagogue president and officers two to three times a month to work out any issues that may come up. Office time includes visiting the sick and meetings with members. Our Rabbi will be our Mara D’atra on religious and kashruth issues, while taking into consideration our previous customs. They will need to work closely with the officers of the congregation, past presidents and the Board of Trustees, to enhance the Jewish experience of our congregants. At each Board of Directors monthly meetings, the Rabbi will provide the D’var Torah and an update on what has transpired in the previous month and plans for the upcoming months. It’s important to the Congregation that our new Rabbi be able to incorporate our previous religious prayer practices with new or different ways of prayer. As a Congregation we are open to enhanced ways of prayer and creating participatory services. The new rabbi should bring our congregants together through purposeful programs regarding support for Israel, and Jewish life in Queens & Develop participatory celebrations, dinners and classes for all Holidays and Jewish life cycle events. We are looking for a Rabbi that will dedicate themselves to the future enhancement and growth of Temple Gates of Prayer congregation. We are looking for a Rabbi who will be dedicated to our congregation. We welcome interfaith families and LGBT congregants. In the past, we have had special needs programs for children on the autism spectrum. Compensation: $140,000-$170,000. Benefits in addition to salary.
