Rabbinical Program

The rabbinate involves service as much as leadership, and the rabbi ordained by AJR will have developed the professional skills to serve with insight and compassion, with wisdom and understanding.

Cantorial Program

AJR’s Cantorial Program trains the future leaders of Jewish prayer in the ancient and traditional musical chant forms, to learn the art of building community through the gifts of music, to raise the cantorial voice in the service of peace and harmony, and to enliven a personal love for the Jewish people.

Master's Program

The Master of Arts Degree in Jewish Studies at the Academy for Jewish Religion provides graduate level engagement with thousands of years of Jewish sacred texts as well as with the most stimulating ideas, trends, and realities of the contemporary Jewish community.

Kol-Bo

Realize your musical, textual, and leadership passions with AJR’s Kol-Bo (all inclusive) Program, in which students pursue rabbinical and cantorial ordination simultaneously!

AJR proudly offers cantors a condensed but rigorous opportunity to add rabbinic ordination to their already impressive mastery of nusah, tefillah, and Jewish leadership.

This track of the Cantorial Program is for those ordained rabbis who are looking for more than just continuing education – it is designed for those seeking intensive pursuit of an additional respected degree.

Mechina

The two-semester Mechina program was created to meet the needs of students with limited grounding in Hebrew language and Judaic studies. The program is meant as preparation for all of AJR’s programs.
