Rabbi Cantor Sam Levine
Biography:
Rabbi Cantor Sam Levine is the full-time rabbi and cantor of the East Midwood Jewish Center in Brooklyn, NY, beginning his service there in 2004. In his dual capacity, he is able to merge his love of Torah and text with his passion for traditional Ashkenazi nusah. Sam received his rabbinical ordination from the Academy for Jewish Religion. He has a Master of Sacred Music from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, as well as a Diploma of Chazzan from the H. L. Miller Cantorial School at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He grew up in Toronto, where he earned his B.A. from the University of Toronto, Victoria College. In 2019, he became a Kushiot Fellow (JEP/JAFI) and is a trained Israel educator. In his downtime, you can find him playing guitar and writing songs.
