Cantor/Cantorial Soloist

Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David is an Egalitarian, Conservative, Multi-generational Synagogue that has been serving the South Shore of Long Island’s Jewish Community for over 100 years. We seek a warm, engaging, inspiring, and collaborative part-time Cantor/Cantorial Soloist to lead Shabbat, holiday, and special event services and bring spiritual depth and musical beauty to our community. Our ideal candidate is someone who can: Coordinate, prepare, and lead all musical aspects of prayers, focusing on creating a meaningful and engaging participatory service for Shabbat mornings and all holidays and events with enthusiasm, authenticity, and fluency in nusach and Hebrew pronunciation, Balance traditional music as well as infuse new music in our services, Enrich our community with meaningful prayer experiences, Connect with congregants of all ages and backgrounds & Work closely with our Rabbi and lay High Holiday choir in the planning and execution of services. Qualifications: Strong knowledge of traditional and contemporary Jewish liturgy, Excellent vocal and musical ability, Prior experience leading synagogue services (formal ordination not required) & Ability to work collaboratively with clergy and staff.
