Temple Israel Center of White Plains is a traditional, egalitarian Congregation. We are  participatory, warm, engaged, inclusive and Jewishly knowledgeable. Our services adhere closely to traditional liturgy and we have made innovative efforts to increase spirituality and participation. Our services are conducted primarily in Hebrew. Our members are self-reflective, spiritually striving, intellectually motivated and socially active. Although we are a large and diverse congregation with about 600 households, we are embracing and seek to facilitate the creation and enhancement of smaller circles within our larger community. We are seeking a third clergy member to complement our Senior Rabbi and Assistant Rabbi. This person could be a Cantor or a Rabbi with strong musical capabilities. This person should be skilled at: Engaging the congregation to enhance spirituality and encourage participation as many of our members want to be enveloped spiritually in the beautiful music of the liturgy, creating and deepening a culture of music for Temple Israel Center (TIC) and its members through inspirational musicality & Community and relationship building. We would like the new clergy member to be eager and prepared to bring both traditional and new ideas and music to take us to even higher levels of Jewish life, community and spirituality. Our new clergy partner should also help us examine how to best engage our diverse range of members, visitors and b’nei mitzvah families at our weekly Shabbat service, to make it as warm, uplifting, spiritual, engaging and accessible as it can be. We would like the new clergy member to think about how our programming, services and musicality can draw new members and keep those who have been with us for some time but may not be as engaged. We are also looking to continue to form bridges among different populations within the synagogue and across the generations. Our new clergy partner should preserve and build on our longstanding strengths as a dynamic, egalitarian conservative synagogue offering a wide array of programming, continue to build strong and meaningful relationships with congregants, continue excellent partnerships with our laity and broader community, and maintain a high level of intellectual and spiritual engagement. Our primary goals are to Provide rich opportunities for conservative, egalitarian worship, learning, engagement, connection to Israel and the wider community and spiritual uplift, Build and strengthen sense of community and relationships across ages and cohorts & Be a place of lifelong connection and learning. Important qualities we are looking for in a candidate: Engaging the congregation to enhance spirituality and encourage participation as many of our members want to be enveloped spiritually in the beautiful music of the liturgy, Creating and deepening a culture of music for TIC and its members through inspirational musicality & Community and relationship building. Important priorities for the candidate: Strong educator, able to oversee/supervise bnei mitzvah program, as well as teaching all ages in our community, Leading davening while supporting lay daveners and strengthening their skills & Clergy and pastoral skills. Salary: $140k+ depending on experience. Note – all covered personnel make a modest monthly contribution to the medical and dental insurance coverage costs. Vacation & parental/family.
