The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History, located on Historic Independence Mall, brings more than 360 years of American Jewish history to life. Tracing the stories of how Jewish immigrants became Jewish Americans, the Museum invites visitors of all heritages to share their own stories and reflect on how history and identity shape and are shaped by the American experience. The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History (The Weitzman) seeks an entrepreneurial, dynamic, visionary, and strategic leader to serve as its Director of Education. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this individual will be responsible for advancing the Museum’s mission through innovative and engaging educational programming that deepens understanding of the American Jewish experience, fosters intercultural dialogue, and supports lifelong learning for diverse audiences. The Director of Education will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all educational initiatives, including K-12 school programs, teacher professional development, public programming, digital learning, and community outreach. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for Jewish history and identity, and demonstrated success in museum or informal education leadership. Areas of Responsibility: Strategic Leadership & Vision, Partnerships & Outreach & Resource Development. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Museum Studies, Jewish Studies, History, or a related field required. Master’s Degree a plus, Minimum of 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in museum or cultural education, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, Deep knowledge of American Jewish history and contemporary Jewish life, with the ability to present it through inclusive and accessible lenses, Proven experience designing and evaluating education programs for diverse age groups and learning needs, Strong communication and public speaking skills; ability to inspire and engage audiences, Familiarity with digital learning tools, inclusive pedagogies, and current trends in museum education & Proven track record of obtaining funding for educational projects. Compensation and Benefits: Salary range for this position is $70k – $90k, based on experience. Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, retirement plan, PTO.
