Congregation Dor Hadash, a 62-year-old, 170-family Reconstructionist congregation in Pittsburgh, is seeking a High Holiday cantor to work closely with our rabbi and lay leaders on facilitating an inspiring, spiritual, and meaningful worship experience. We are a progressive, warm, and collaborative community with a long history of lay participation. Responsibilities include: Serving as shaliach tzibbur for the following services: -Rosh Hashanah Day 1 (maariv; part of pesukei d’zimra; shacharit; musaf), Rosh Hashanah Day 2 (shacharit; Torah service) & Yom Kippur (kol nidre/maariv; part of pesukei d’zimra; shacharit; Torah Service; mincha; neilah), Using melodies which are familiar to the congregation, as well as some of your suggestions & Attending 2-3 meetings to review the services, prior to each holiday. Service outlines will be provided, indicating specific tefillot, English readings, and prayers which lay people or rabbi will lead. We use the Kol Haneshamah Machzor. Compensation ranges from $6000-$8000, in addition to travel expenses and accommodations.
