Congregation Kol Rina - Orange, NJ
Conservative, Egalitarian, Independent/Non-Denominational
Congregation Kol Rina, a 50-family independent-egalitarian (but Conservative-style) minyan in Essex County, New Jersey is seeking a cantorial soloist for High Holy Days, 2025. We use the Jules Harlow Machzor, mostly Hebrew with slight abridgement. The candidate will be responsible for the cantorial parts of Shaharit, Torah service, and Musaf for both days Rosh Hashanah (9:00-1:30) and Yom Kippur (9:00-2:15), plus Kol Nidrei (6:15 – 8:15) and Ne’ilah (6:00-7:15). Congregants do the Torah reading, haftarah, and shofar blowing. Family lodging will be provided within walking distance. The service is hybrid (in-person & Zoom) with microphone. Heimish davening style with encouragement of congregational singing is preferred. We have budgeted up to $6000 for this position based on prior experience. Candidates should contact Stuart Sender at [email protected] and provide a vocal recording sample of a part of the HH service. https://kolrinanj.org.
