A Hillel in Lower Manhattan is seeking a High Holidays service leader for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur for our community of students, faculty and local participants. The service leader will be responsible for the following: Rosh Hashanah Services: Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah morning 1st day, Rosh Hashanah morning 2nd day & Yom Kippur Services: Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur morning, and a combined Yom Kippur Mincha/Neilah. The service is Conservative / Traditional Egalitarian style, with flexibility to modify based on student needs and interests. We are looking for traditional Hebrew-chanted nusach as well as melodies that encourage participation, Shared responsibility with student leaders for various readings and prayer introductions & Primary chanter for Torah and Haftarah, but parts can be shared with staff and students, as available. If you are interested, there could be an opportunity to deliver sermons during the service or teach over the holidays.If you are interested, there could be an opportunity to train and teach students how to lead parts of the services, and/or deliver sermons.
