Telluride is nestled at 8,750 feet in a box canyon surrounded by 13,000-foot peaks in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains. Known for breathtaking fall foliage, world-class hiking, and its rich cultural life, Telluride offers a spiritually inspiring and visually stunning setting for the High Holy Days. The Telluride Jewish Community in Telluride, Colorado is seeking a Rabbi, Cantor, or experienced Prayer Leader to guide our congregation during the High Holy Days of 5786 (2025). We are a vibrant and growing community of full-time and part-time residents from across the country who gather to celebrate Jewish life in one of the most spectacular mountain towns in America. Lead High Holy Day services for our independent Jewish community including: Rosh Hashanah: Erev and First Day morning services, Second Day Rosh Hashanah (optional): Torah study, hiking, or creative spiritual reflection, Yom Kippur: Kol Nidre, Morning service including Yizkor, and a combined Mincha/Neilah/Havdalah service, Collaborate with community members for shofar blowing, music, Torah and Haftarah chanting, and other service elements, Use Gates of Repentance Machzor and incorporate both Reform and Conservative traditions, with traditional Hebrew nusach and participatory melodies & Deliver short, meaningful sermons during each service. We provide: $7,000-$9,000 honorarium, commensurate with experience, Round-trip airfare, Luxury lodging in Telluride, Local transportation & All meals during your stay.
