The Rabbi is responsible for the provision of spiritual support to patients and families in keeping with the patient/family’s desire and Jewish belief system. He/She functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group and reports to the Administrator or Designee. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduate of a rabbinic ordination in a yeshiva or modern rabbinical seminary or under the guidance of an individual rabbi, or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry, 2. Experience in working with patients/families dealing with life threatening illness and death, 3. Speaks, writes, reads, and comprehends English & 4. Understanding of Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox traditions in observances and laws as they relate to end-of-life care and hospice care. RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): 1. Complies with accepted ethical conduct and professional standards of ministerial and pastoral care, 2. Participates in the Interdisciplinary Group meetings and provides expertise in the spiritual component of hospice care, 3. Participates in developing a spiritual assessment of the patient/family, 4. Provides spiritual support to patients, families and the Interdisciplinary Group, 5. Makes contact with clergy or appropriate spiritual representatives for patients and families as indicated, 6. Participates in in-service education and community programs to promote professional growth and understanding of hospice care, 7. Participates in grief support groups as indicated, 8. Records clinical notes in the patient’s medical record, 9. Participates in staff development activities, 10. Documents all patient-related activities in a timely manner & 11. Reacts to change productively and performs other job-related tasks and duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to lift, push, and pull light to moderate loads.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: 1.
