Adas Israel is also home to two schools, our Gan HaYeled, a reggio-inspired 5-day/week preschool, and the Estelle and Melvin Gelman Religious School, a supplemental education program (religious school) for K-12 students, which has grown from 250 to over 500 students over the past 10 years. Each school is led by a dedicated director who supervises a team of administrators responsible for delivering a comprehensive educational experience built on a deep love for Jewish values, Hesed, Tefilah, and social action that rewards questioning and curiosity. The Rabbinic Director of Education and Judaics (RDEJ) is responsible for improving and innovating the overall Jewish educational experience for Adas members ages 5-22 with a focus on strengthening Judaics, Tefilah, and Pastoral Care within this cohort of children and their families. The RDEJ has core responsibility for the following areas: Experiential Judaics: This work includes: Tefilah, Holiday Educational Enrichment, Pastoral Care for Religious School Families & Judaic Educational Goal Setting and Standards. The ideal candidate should believe that “b’tzelem elohim” includes a diversity of learning styles and types of students. Additional responsibilities could be assigned as needed to ensure a smooth transition and continued success. Required Experience & Professional Attributes: Extensive Torah knowledge and a thoughtful point of view on the arc of Jewish education in a synagogue setting, Proven pastoral experience, demonstrating the ability to connect with and guide both children and families in meaningful ways, Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire, Collaborative leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead initiatives that align with the synagogue’s mission and values & Relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders including congregants, community leaders, and staff. The Salary range for this position is $120,000 to 145,000 based on experience. Additionally, the benefits package includes a 403(b) retirement plan, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, and, if applicable, tuition allowance for children at Adas’ Gan HaYeled preschool and religious school.
